A chest press machine that’s better than dumbbells?
Chest press machines are a fantastic addition to any big chest session – there’s no doubting that.
But you don’t have to look far to find an army of purists who will insist that machines simply cannot substitute a free bar or dumbbell press.
And, to be honest, we’d have probably agreed – until now…
The isolation of a chest press machine is great for your pecs.
But the micro-adjustments and extra stability needed for bench pressing a bar or dumbbells are what makes it such a great compound movement.
With free weights, you bring in your arms, shoulders and core, as well as just your pecs.
However, if you’re training alone or you’re new to lifting, you’ll probably struggle to get the most out of heavy free weights sessions and run the risk of injury as well.
